Making Sense of Laboratory Findings
In conventional healthcare, laboratory testing plays a significant role in diagnosis and patient follow-up. Patients of complementary practitioners often present test results from laboratory analyses carried out for them.
This interactive continuing education day will review a series of common parameters: the origin of various substances measured in blood and urine, what their values may indicate, and the significance of frequently encountered abnormalities. The implications for complementary healthcare practice will also be discussed.
By the end of this course, you will:
• Be familiar with key laboratory parameters;
• Understand the physiological and pathophysiological associations of these parameters;
• Recognise common abnormal lab values and their clinical relevance;
• Have discussed, with fellow participants and the instructor, the relevance of these findings in complementary healthcare practice.
