Seminar description:

Herbal formula selection directly affects the treatment result. How do we select the right formula from the thousands of classic formulas? The training at TCM universities only introduced basic formulas knowledge. The advanced formula experience needs an accumulation of long term practice. The National TCM Master professor Deng Tietao has over 80 years clinical experience. His valuable experience can direct us to select the right formulas and to modify the formulas. In this 2-days seminarwe will introduce professor Deng’s clinical experience on formula and herbs selection. We will also introduce the clinical experience and academic thought of some famous ancient masters in TCM history.

. Contents of the seminar:

  1. Select herbal formulas according to the diagnosis of Qi and blood differentiation.
  2. Select herbal formulas according to the diagnosis Zang Fu Syndromes differentiation.
  3. Select herbal formulas according to the diagnosis of Six meridians differentiation.
  4. Select herbal formulas according to the diagnosis of Wei Qi Ying Xue differentiation.
  5. Select herbal formulas according to the diagnosis of San Jiao differentiation.
  6. Select pair herbs.
  7. Modification of the ingredients and doses of formulas.

About the lecturer:

Dr. Tiejun Tang is a highly regarded practitioner of Chinese medicine and acupuncture. He has over 30 year’s clinical experience. He has studied and worked in five different famous medical universities in China. He has practiced in 3 top university hospitals and has taught Chinese medicine in 2 universities. He has got his PhD of TCM in 1998, and was appointed as a vice professor of Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences in 1999, when he worked as post-doctoral researcher.
Since he came to UK in 2005, Dr. Tang works in the teaching clinic of Middlesex University as a clinical tutor and guest lecturer of Chinese medicine and acupuncture. He also worked part-time for 8 years at the NHS pain clinic in Whittington Hospital.
Dr. Tang is a council member and the research executive at the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK (ATCM), as well as the executive of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Society (WFCMS).

Dr Tang’s MSc. research was focused on the local immune function of gastro-intestinal disease and the intervention of Chinese herbs. His PhD research was focused on the mechanisms of Chinese herbs for improving myocardial ischemia. He is an expert on many gastro-intestinal diseases and cardio-vascular diseases. He also experienced at treat arthritis, asthma, hay fever, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraine, infertility, gynaecology disease, dermal disease, and many repetitive strain injury.
