School Policies and Apprenticeship Policies
As a student of SOU some rules concerning behavior, classroom, coffee breaks, tea breaks and lunch break are listed.

Allowed/Forbidden areas during breaks.
In general this means that only the public space at the first floor and the shop/reception area are allowed to students. Unless the student is doing apprenticeship, the treatment rooms in the clinic are forbidden. Furthermore, the administration office on the 1st floor and the patient waiting room are prohibited. The student should not block the entrance of the building, reception or clinic entrance area.

Class rooms, coffee/tea area and shop area
The class rooms and the area of the coffee and tea should be kept tidy, and students are expected to throw away their waste themselves. Cup-holders should be used instead of using two or more cups at once. Make a pot of tea instead of using 1 bag per cup. In the class room and hall, the chairs and tables should be placed in the position as found at the onset of the class. Books in the shop should be kept tidy, and books and products should be returned to their original place if not purchased. Noise should be reduced in order not to disturb another class. Mobile phones should be turned off during class. You can phone outside during the breaks.

Apprenticeship Policies
Each student is responsible for planning and registering their own apprenticeship hours. At the reception desk, you can reserve a whole day or half a day as a minimum. There is a maximum of 2 students per doctor.

Morning: 09.00 - 13.00
Afternoon: 13.30 - 17.30
Whole day: 09.00 - 17.30

The doctors appreciate it if you are present in the clinic on time. If you arrive somewhat later, kindly wait until the doctor starts with the treatment of the next patient before entering.

If you are unable to come for the booked apprenticeship, due to circumstances, please inform the reception timely. Another student may do his/her apprenticeship on that day.

A registration form of the apprenticeship hours with all students per study year is present at the reception. Upon entering and departing, please report at the reception: your hours will be registered there.

During apprenticeship, the students must wear a clean white (doctor’s) coat. You should bring your own coat with you. We request you to pay attention to personal hygiene such as clean hands, nails, etc.

The handling of material should be as follows:
Each student is expected to show a professional attitude at all times, as well as respect for the doctors and the patients. It is important to realize that the student is not a doctor during his/her apprenticeship, even though he may be a doctor or therapist. The student shouldn’t give unsollicited advice to the patients, ask personal questions of the patients, or advise different treatment methods to the patients. Some patients do not want to have apprenticeship students with them during their treatment, and this must be respected.

Students who plan to do their apprenticeship elsewhere should consult the school study coordinator for further information about criteria, etc.

Chinese Medical Center offers students of SOU the opportunity of an apprenticeship in her clinic.
In health-care, care of the patient has first priority. Therefore, during practical training sessions, the student is not only judged on the technical aspects of the treatment, but also on his or her mental attitude. The supervising doctor may make a comment in the student‘s practical training report in case of, e.g.: not following given orders, unprofessional attitude towards patients, or an incorrect attitude towards the teacher or fellow students. The SOU has the right to exclude a student from the exam or further study if his or her behavior conflicts with the safe and good practice of TCM.
A number of case records should be finished as apprenticeship rules require.
